New school year!

Today we started the new school year.  I am excited about what this new year will bring.  We will be learning about early Roman civilization and on up to early church history.  Sooooo much to learn!  My goal is to strengthen Aarons reading skills and to hopefully teach Asher to read this year.

Andrew's weekly highlights week 2 & 3

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking and correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.  2 Timothy 3:16-17
We learned about Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and Noah.  The best part of the week was measuring Noahs Ark.  437 ft.  It was fun to get in the road and measure it out.  The boys were thrilled!  It is an awesome sight.  Truly humbling.  I am glad we didnt skip it.

For week 3 we learned about the tower of Babel.  We made graham cracker towers.
We are starting to learn about the High Holy days and made a paper Shofar.  The boys loved that too.

Aaron's weekly highlights

MFW 1st Grade~
Week 2- We continued to review our Proverbs scripture.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy one is understanding."
proverbs 9:10
Aaron memorized this easily.  Andrew could even say it.  I am so proud of my boys.  We worked on his ABC scroll.
We also made a Jewish calendar.  Did you know that the Jewish new year starts in March?  I am fascinated about all of these Jewish feasts that we are learning about.  Did you catch that?  WE..meaning all of us including Mama.

We finished the book "A Hive of Busy bees"  This was the most precious book.  It is about two children that have to go and stay with their grandparents.  Their mother got ill (had to explain what il was) and the grandmother would tell them about the different kind of bees. There was Bee Gentle, Bee Honest, and many others.   Aaron and Andrew loved it.

Aaron also made a worm habitat.  It was fun getting it ready but I think most of the worms died.  I left the lid kind of propped open and a navy blue towel around it.  I am thinking most of them suffocated.  Can I tell you that a jar of dead night crawlers just plain stinks.

Insecure Blogger

Today Jason and I were talking about my new blog and I told him how difficult it was for me to write.  It is a real struggle for me to put my thoughts down.   I am constantly editing or second guessing myself.  He(Jason) said well whats the use if youre writing like that?  <sigh>  I am hoping I will get better after a while.

Asher and coyotes

One day we were headng to Nanies aka Lanas house.  While on the way we saw a dead coyote or some animal that looked like a coyote.  Well the boys got excited.  So now when anyone...and I mean anyone that leaves and we say goodbye, Asher has to tell them to not get the coyotes.  He has been saying this for some time now and now the bad wolfs have joined.

" No coyotes, no bad wolves!"
